PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of the MEaSUREs Tellus JPL/GFZ/CSR GRACE Level-3 Monthly Ocean/Land Water-Equivalent-Thickness Surface-Mass Anomaly Release 6.0 (RL06) datasets in netCDF, ASCII, and GeoTIFF formats.

The GRACE mission, a joint partnership between NASA (USA) and the DLR (Germany), launched on 17 March 2002. It uses twin satellites to accurately map variations in the Earth's gravity field and surface mass distribution. Detailed information regarding the GRACE mission is available from the project GRACE website and also the PO.DAAC GRACE mission webpage.

The GRACE Level-3 products, also called TELLUS Level-3, are funded by the NASA Making Earth Science Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Program. The RL06 version is an update of the retired TELLUS Level-3 RL05 data. It is produced with RL06 Level-2 GRACE data. This release includes Monthly Ocean/Land Water-Equivalent-Thickness Surface-Mass Anomaly datasets from three data centers (JPL, GFZ, and CSR), for a total of six datasets. Each dataset is provided in netCDF, ASCII, and GeoTIFF formats, shared with single landing page and storage location. In this release, the six Level-3 datasets are produced on a monthly basis from April 2002 to May 2017.

The datasets are described and discoverable via the PO.DAAC dataset information pages.  The dataset information pages also provide access to the technical documentation, the GRACE Level-3 User Handbook, and guidance on how to cite the data.
