The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of the Tellus JPL/GFZ/CSR GRACE and GRACE-FO Level 3 Monthly Ocean/Land Mass Anomaly Release 6.0 (RL06) version 03 datasets.
The new GRACE and GRACE-FO RL06 v03 datasets are updated from the current Land Mass v01 (LND_v01) and Ocean Mass v02 (OCN_v02) from all three data centers (JPL, GFZ, and CSR), a total of 12 datasets. Version v03 is improved by using updated and consistent C20 (degree-20) and Geocenter (degree-1) corrections (see Technical Notes TN-14 and TN-13 for details) for both Ocean and Land products. Similar to previous versions, all the datasets are available in netCDF, ASCII (YAML encoded), and GeoTIFF formats, but only the netCDF files are searchable with public-facing landing pages (pointed by DOIs).
The datasets are described and discoverable via the PO.DAAC dataset information pages. The dataset information pages also provide access to the technical documentation, GRACE-FO Level-3 User Handbook, and guidance on how to cite the data.
The GRACE mission is a joint partnership between NASA and the German Aerospace Center (DLR). The GRACE-FO mission is a joint partnership between NASA and the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ). Both missions use twin satellites to accurately map variations in the Earth's gravity field and surface mass distribution. GRACE-FO is designed as a successor to the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) mission.
