DescriptionThe NASA Scatterometer (NSCAT) Level 1.7 ocean sigma-0 referenced to 50 km wind vector cells (WVC) contains daily backscatter (sigma-0) data from ascending and descending passes. Rain flagging information is not included. Data is flagged where measurements are either missing, ambiguous, or contaminated by land/sea ice. This is the most up-to-date version, which designates the final phase of calibration, validation and science data processing, which was completed in November of 1998, on behalf of the JPL NSCAT Project; re-processing had only minor impacts on the Level 1.7 data.
